Guadalajara

Art &Philanthropy
"Guadalajara"
This mixed media painting raised fund for "All 4 One Charity" to help cancer patients with their financial predicaments while in treatment. The financial help is offered to low income cancer patients, to cover costs of simple things that we sometimes take for granted like: transportation, daycare or groceries.

It gives me great pleasure to know that the joy I receive by crating art is used to raise funds to help the needy. Please visit my website for more information on how you can take part in

OTTAWA

This watercolour was commissioned by my grand daughter; when she asked me to do a painting about Ottawa; she basically wanted the Canal and the Parliament buildings. She grew up in Ottawa and knows it very well; so I decided to paint some of the most important and recognisable places in the city and, in particular, things that make Ottawa a special place to live.

The painting is 48” wide by 24” high; so it allowed me to put various subjects. Here are their close-ups:

The Bytown Loggers with Canada geese

The Parliament Buildings

The Museum of Civilization with the Gatineau Balloon Festival

The Notre Dame Basilica

The War Memorial Monument

The National Gallery

The Tulip Festival

The Canal in the summer with Jessie running

The Canal in the winter with the famous skaters

The Market Area

This is the latest donation done through my initiative Art and Philanthropy. It is a commissioned watercolour of the beautiful island of Santorin in Greece. The proceeds were donated to Hospice Care Ottawa, an organization dedicated to provide volunteer palliative care services to people facing a life threatening illness and to their families.

The site has had a great response and some pieces have been selected to increase the fundraising efforts of various charities. Since its launch in September 2011, there has been some substantial action:

* The first piece of art purchased for a charity through my website was “Sun Dance” with the proceeds going to the Humane Society of Canada;
