I wanted to capture this special moment in her life. I loved
her photo with the hat but it really became meaningful when I added the
balloon! It gave me great joy to hear her say “it is me”, when I presented her
with the painting. These moments, and the possibility to make somebody happy,
are the inspiration for me to continue with my painting.

Marianne
Marianne is a bright, intelligent and precocious ten year old
girl. She is a delight to be with because of her contagious lively character,
which come from her Mexican-Irish heritage. She is my grandniece, a girl just on the verge of becoming a
teenager, although deep inside, she is still a child. For Christmas she
attached her Santa letter to a balloon and let it fly away, hoping for a
response. She is loved so she was not disappointed.
Christmas
For a long time now, I wanted to paint, for myself, a nice little
painting of the Christmas Holly. It is a small little painting, which
fits just right, on a small wall entering our dinning room. It invites people
to come in and enjoy the Christmas time!

Guadalajara
Art &Philanthropy
"Guadalajara"
This mixed media painting raised fund for "All 4 One Charity" to help cancer patients with their financial predicaments while in treatment. The financial help is offered to low income cancer patients, to cover costs of simple things that we sometimes take for granted like: transportation, daycare or groceries. It gives me great pleasure to know that the joy I receive by crating art is used to raise funds to help the needy. Please visit my website for more information on how you can take part in

OTTAWA
This watercolour was commissioned by my grand daughter; when she asked me to do a painting
about Ottawa ;
she basically wanted the Canal and the Parliament buildings. She grew up in Ottawa and knows it very well; so I decided to paint some
of the most important and recognisable places in the city and, in particular,
things that make Ottawa
a special place to live.
The painting is 48” wide by 24” high; so it allowed me to put various subjects. Here are their close-ups:
The Bytown Loggers with Canada geese
The Parliament Buildings
The Museum of Civilization with the Gatineau Balloon Festival
The Notre Dame Basilica
The War Memorial Monument
The National Gallery
The Tulip Festival
The Canal in the summer with Jessie running
The Canal in the winter with the famous skaters

Art & Philanthropy - Update
In the last two years, I have been busy promoting my new
website www.artandphilanthropy.ca This website allows me to present art work reserved for fundraising purposes.
The site has had a great response and some pieces have been
selected to increase the fundraising efforts of various charities. Since its
launch in September 2011, there has been some substantial action:
* An article about my new website Art & Philanthropy, written by Heather
Jamieson, was published at the ARTNEWS Magazine of the Art
Council in Ottawa
www.artsoe.ca;
* The first piece of art purchased for a charity through
my website was “Sun Dance” with the proceeds going to the Humane Society of Canada;
"Sun Dance"
"Oriental Inspiration"
* My work was part of the Ottawa Choral Society fundraising
auction titled Flying Machines presented at the Museum of Aviation in Ottawa
(sorry no picture!);
"Primal Crop"
* The yearly fundraising event of Acceso International,
which helps Latin American women, schools, daycare centres, workshops and vocational
centres, was held at the Ukrainian Hall. “Josefa” was auctioned helping to
support these important projects;

* An orchid lover was presented with “Triple Splendour”; as a
gift from her children, who selected it to support the children’s charity Dreams
Take Flight;
* Breast Cancer Action was the recipient of the proceeds
raised by “Rose Tulip” as part of the auction of the Fitness Program at the
Goulbourn Recreation Complex in Stittsville/Ottawa;
"Rose Tulip"
* “City by the River” was donated to All 4 One Charity to
raise funds to support cancer patients with financial needs at the Ottawa Hospital .
