OTTAWA

This watercolour was commissioned by my grand daughter; when she asked me to do a painting about Ottawa; she basically wanted the Canal and the Parliament buildings. She grew up in Ottawa and knows it very well; so I decided to paint some of the most important and recognisable places in the city and, in particular, things that make Ottawa a special place to live.

The painting is 48” wide by 24” high; so it allowed me to put various subjects. Here are their close-ups:

The Bytown Loggers with Canada geese

The Parliament Buildings

The Museum of Civilization with the Gatineau Balloon Festival

The Notre Dame Basilica

The War Memorial Monument

The National Gallery

The Tulip Festival

The Canal in the summer with Jessie running

The Canal in the winter with the famous skaters

The Market Area
